Araldite 2081 is a new non-flammable low-odour adhesive from Huntsman Araldite that complies with EN 45545-2 rail standards. This fast-curing, two-part acrylic adhesive is suitable for bonding a wide variety of plastics and other substrates, with the exception of polyolefins and low surface energy materials.
A new low-odour adhesive
Araldite 2081 has high strength and good flexibility with low odour. The multi-purpose adhesive has a 10-minute open time for fast mounting operations on a wide range of substrates. Its main features are:
- Low-odour
- Non-flammable and low toxicity
- High adhesion to various plastics, compounds and metals
- Fast curing rate
- An open time of 10 minutes
An expanded range of acrylic adhesives
Araldite 2081 extends Huntsman’s range of acrylic adhesives through its unique properties.
Like Araldite 2081, Araldite 2080 is also a primerless, non-flammable structural acrylic low-odour adhesive with exceptional bond strength and fast reactivity times.
Both adhesives solve many of the common problems manufacturers have faced when using methyl methacrylate (MMA), polyurethane (PU) and other traditional adhesives. These include harsh odour, flammability issues, high toxicity profiles, and increased lead time for surface preparation, all of which can contribute to higher costs and lower productivity. In addition, toxicity and odour can also affect the health and well-being of workers.
Railway Regulations
With this new approval, Huntsman Advanced Materials offers up to ten Araldite adhesives that comply with the requirements of the EN 45545-2 Fire Protection Railway Regulation, HL3 requirement, and R1 and R7 classifications:
