Case Study: Vehicle Seating Lubrication with Krytox™
In order to understand how industrial experts were able to use a Krytox™ lubricant for successful vehicle seating lubrication, improving the comfort levels of a vehicle, we will explore the context, the problem and the way it was solved.
The Client
A seating manufacturer responsible for the production of seats for luxury vehicles had been receiving many complaints regarding squeaky seats. The customers reported a decrease in satisfaction as a result of this problem. The manufacturer wanted to reduce the number of recalls to improve customer satisfaction and reduce the number of repair and maintenance calls.
The Problem
It was determined that the metal slides for the headrest of vehicle seats were responsible for the noisy squeaks. These slides traditionally aren’t lubricated due to the difficulty of finding a fully compatible lubricant. Although, due to the issue, the manufacturer was determined to improve customer satisfaction and eradicate the squeaks by lubricating the metal slides for the headrest.
The lubricant was required to be non-migratory, compatible with the metal slides and easy to apply.
The Solution
It was determined that Krytox™ GPL 101 was the ideal solution to this manufacturer’s problem. This is a lubricant that is compatible with all metals and is easy to apply onto clean metallic surfaces during the seat assembly process by using an applicator. In addition, it is non-migratory due to its low vapour pressure and surface energy, staying exactly where it’s applied.
