Permabond 735 – Cyanoacrylate Adhesive

Permabond 735 is a reinforced cyanoacrylate with very good impact and peel strength compared to a conventional cyanoacrylate. Curing is very fast at room temperature and its viscosity is stable during the useful life of the product.

This provides consistent performance. The product adheres to a variety of surfaces including steel, aluminium, galvanized steel, plastics, and elastomers.

Main features

  • A longer cure allows for proper alignment.
  • Strengthened and flexible.
  • Ease of use – no mixing or heat curing.
  • Black – suitable for dark surfaces.
  • 100% reactive, without solvents.

Description Permabond 735

Cyanoacrylate adhesives are single-component adhesives that cure rapidly when pressed into a thin film between parts. Moisture adsorbed on the surface initiates the curing of the adhesive. Strong bonds develop very quickly and in a wide variety of materials. These properties make Permabond cyanoacrylates the ideal adhesives for high-speed production lines.

Physical properties of uncured adhesive

  • Chemical Composition: Ethyl Cyanoacrylate
  • Appearance: Black
  • Viscosity: @ 25°C 100-200 mPa.s (cP)
  • Specific gravity: 1.1

Typical Curing Characteristics

  • Maximum gap filling 0.15 mm 0.006 in
  • Handling time (achieve 0.3 N/mm2 of shear resistance)
    30-50 s (Steel)
    35-50 s (Aluminium)
    10-15 s (Buna N)
    5-10 s (Phenolic)
  • Total resistance: 24 hours

* Handling times may be affected by temperature, humidity, and specific surfaces being adhered to. Larger gaps or acidic surfaces will also slow cure speed, but this can be overcome by the use of Permabond C Surface Activator (CSA) or Permabond QFS 16.

Surface Preparation

Permabond recommends that the surfaces are clean, dry and free of grease before applying the adhesive. Use a suitable solvent (such as acetone or isopropanol) for degreasing surfaces. Some metals such as aluminium, copper and their alloys will benefit from light abrasion with emery cloth (or similar) to remove the oxide layer.
