Molykote 111 is a valve lubricant and sealant compound with good resistance to most chemicals and excellent water resistance.

Features of MOLYKOTE® 111

  • Wide working temperature range (-40ºC to 200ºC)
  • Low vapour pressure
  • Low volatility
  • Excellent resistance to water


  • Lubrication of pressure connection and control valves, and valves for water softeners and faucets.
  • Sealant for pressure and vacuum systems.
  • Sealant for outdoor installation equipment (also for boat decks) exposed to the action of water and severe environmental conditions: meters, electrical service entrance conduits and underground connections.
  • Damping medium for derating potentiometers in electrical and electronic equipment.
  • Chemical barrier coating.
  • It is used as a non-stick and sealant for the joints of transformers and equipment boxes. It prevents o-rings from sticking to metal and is resistant to weather conditions and water stripping.
  • Rubber and plastic gaskets, o-rings and gaskets.

How to use

  • It can be applied by hand with automatic equipment specifically designed for this purpose with a brush or a clean cloth.
  • Certain lube gun designs can jam; it is recommended to test them before use.
  • Molykote 111 Compound should not be applied to any surface to which paint or finish will be applied. These coatings cannot adhere to the silicone-treated surface. If contaminated with a silicone coating, parts can be cleaned or washed with solvent, detergent, or soaked in an alcoholic potassium solution and then rinsed in clean water before painting.

Chemical resistance

  • It is resistant to dilute acids and alkalis and to most aqueous solutions.
  • It is very resistant to a wide range of organic and inorganic chemicals. As each application may vary in chemical composition, pressure, flow rate, relubrication needs, and equipment design, it is recommended that silicone compound be tested before adopting regular use.
  • Not for use with liquid oxygen or in applications requiring LOX compatibility.
