A composite material is one made up of a combination of materials with different characteristics, with the aim of adding the selected good properties of each individual material, to obtain a new and optimised final product.

These materials are mainly composed of an organic (polyester, vinylester, epoxy, …) or non-organic (metallic, mineral) matrix and a fibrous (glass, carbon, aramid, …) or non-fibrous (gravel in concrete) reinforcing material that provides the mechanical properties (strength, hardness, elongation) in the desired direction.

Composites are lighter and stronger than many metals and are used in many applications in the wind industry (wind turbine blades), general industry (pressure tanks), automotive (chassis, spoilers, leaf springs), sports (skis, snowboards , paddle blades) and aerospace industry.
